Hotel acoustics is rarely about one wall. Sound reaches a guest through the party wall, the corridor door, the ceiling void above the partition, the ductwork shared between rooms, and the bathroom of the room next door. A quiet room needs all of those closed, not the best-performing one improved.
Where the paths are
- Party walls — built to a measured performance, and carried to the slab rather than stopped at the ceiling.
- Corridor doors — seals and thresholds, since the door is usually the weakest element.
- Ceiling voids — the common route over the top of partitions.
- Services — shared ducts, drainage stacks and back-to-back sockets.
- Impact noise — footfall from the floor above, handled in the floor build-up.
Building it into the fit-out
The work sits inside the interior programme rather than beside it: wall build-ups, door sets, floor construction and duct attenuation are specified with the fit-out drawings, so nothing has to be opened up later.
Existing hotels
For a hotel already operating, we survey a sample of rooms, identify which paths are actually carrying the noise, and propose work room by room — so floors can be taken out of service in sequence rather than all at once.
