Projection and displays

Projector or display, the questions are the same: how big, how bright, how far, and can everyone see it.

Screen size comes from the distance to the furthest seat and the smallest detail that must be legible. Brightness comes from the ambient light the room actually has, not the specification sheet's dark laboratory. Position comes from sightlines — including the people in the front row.

What we design

  • Screen or display size, set from viewing distances and content.
  • Brightness and contrast against measured ambient light.
  • Throw distance, lens choice and mounting, coordinated with the lighting rig.
  • Motorised screens and masking where formats change.
  • Sightlines checked from the extremes of the seating, not just the centre.

Projection or direct view

Large LED and LCD displays now make sense in many rooms that used to need projection, especially where ambient light is high. We compare both against the room and the budget, including what each costs to run and maintain.
